Strategic Planning – Group S & SD Annual Liaison
On the 21 and 22 August, employees from Scaw’s SHE departments worldwide went to Ngonyama Lion Lodge outside of Johannesburg for Scaw’s annual Safety & Sustainable Development Strategic Liaison. The liaison focused on five key areas of priority: safety, energy and waste management, resources, noise induced hearing loss, and HIV/AIDS.
“The liaison wasn’t all work,” says Lizanne Gildenhuys, group occupational hygienist. “On the Friday we tested our team-building skills by engaging in a treasure hunt in groups through the Krugersdorp Game Reserve. Our colleagues in Team Simunye proved to be the best communicators and were the winners.”
2007 Sustainable Development report
The SHE representatives at the liaison were given a preview of the group’s latest Sustainable Development report that is ‘greened’ with themes from botany to convey messages of sustainability in manufacturing. Its slogan: We may be black, white and red ... but our heart is green, is a constant thread throughout the report. The slogan is a reference to the Scaw logo. The report was well-received and has been presented to employees, shareholders and external stakeholders with pride.
