Project Fusion will fuse practices into efficient alignment
Project Fusion is a Human Resources’ processes and systems consolidation programme initiated to support the One Anglo Strategy. It serves as the foundation for Global Shared Services for people management processes and is supported by a single standardised systems application platform.
The objective of Project Fusion (PF) is to improve effectiveness across all Anglo and Scaw divisions, align business units, create a common understanding of service towards Human Resources’ (HR) customers, and bring about cost saving benefits.
Scaw will not be the first to enter the fusion programme. Anglo’s offices in London and Johannesburg, as well as Kumba Iron Ore, have already gone live on the new system. Jane Erasmus, HR administration manager, says, “The scope of the project has been restricted to Employee Transaction Management (ETM), that is, personnel administration, organisational management and payroll processing and reporting. This means that Scaw South Africa will transform its payroll system by transferring all current payrolls to SAP.
“The Scaw PF project team is busy with pre-project planning activities that will continue until the end of March 2009. With input from all HR/Payroll staff and management throughout the business, without whose support this project will flounder, the project team is analysing all HR policies and procedures to determine the best way to harmonise these.
This is long overdue as Scaw has integrated many businesses into its group without bringing those policies and procedures into alignment.” Project Fusion Development will start around April 2009 and the project is planned to go live in December 2010.
