Greg Maud joins Scaw from Anglo

Greg Maud is implementing Value Based Management (VBM) across the global Scaw Metals Group. VBM aims to transform Scaw’s strategic decision-making processes and mindset to one of managing the business for maximum value. Greg says,

“Becoming a leading global company requires going beyond creating value for our shareholders to the goal of maximising the value of Scaw’s unique assets and capabilities, which can be achieved only if each person performs to the very best, both individually and collectively.

“Continuing to operate on a ‘business as usual basis’ is unlikely to deliver an industry-leading performance. Hence the major change in the way we work through the VBM methodology.

“VBM is a philosophy, framework and set of tools focused on helping us to grow Scaw’s value by ensuring that the most attractive strategic options are identified, prioritised, resourced and implemented. We aim to:

  • Build a deep under-standing of the sources and drivers of value in Scaw’s markets.
  • Evaluate options for the largest value improvement.
  • Commit to a clear implementation plan.”

Greg MaudGreg Maud was appointed from Anglo as manager, Value Based Management and Business Development in August 2008.

Greg was with Anglo for 10 years, working in both Johannesburg and London.

He is 34 and is married to Sarah. They have two children, Spencer (4) and Neve (1).
