The fresh face of Scaw at the 2008 Electra Mining trade show
The international Electra Mining Africa Exhibition, a bi-annual trade show, is the second largest mining show in the world and the biggest trade exhibition in Southern Africa. It is no surprise then that the Scaw Metals Group was a prominent and leading exhibitor at the highly-acclaimed expo held in Johannesburg between 8 and 12 September 2008.
50 000 visitors
The exhibition provides a showcase for local and international companies. This year the expo hosted over 600 companies and about 50 000 visitors. The Scaw business units that exhibited were Cast Products, Haggie® Steel Wire Rope, Distribution, Wire and Strand, Fibre Products, Chain Products and Consolidated Wire Industries (CWI).
“The show covers mining, power generation, manufacturing and construction, and brings coinciding industries together under one roof for visitor and exhibitor convenience,” says Robin Wilson, sales and technical services manager, Surface Mining Ropes, Haggie® Steel Wire Rope division.
“Given the diversity of Scaw’s product offering and services, strengthened by the recent acquisition of Eclipse and other foundries, the exhibition provided the group with strong exposure to mining and industrial clients. Synergies with other exhibitors and visitors also provided excellent relationship-building opportunities.”
