Tony Harris, executive chairman
of the Scaw Metals

says, “Our sincere thanks go to Tony for
his considerable contribution over so many
years to the Anglo group, to the growth of
the Scaw Metals Group into an international
business operating in nine countries
worldwide, and to the development of the
South African steel and foundry industry.
We wish Tony well for his retirement.”
After joining Scaw Metals in 1970

roles which included a four year deployment
to Scaw’s operation in Zambia. He was appointed technical director in
1984, managing director in 1988 and

He joined the group as chief financial
officer (CFO) for Konkola Copper Mine and,
following Anglo’s disposal of this asset,
moved to the Johannesburg office to fulfil
a variety of roles before being appointed
global CFO for Anglo Coal. In June 2006,
Norman was appointed executive director,
Finance, at Anglo Platinum and has been
joint acting CEO since August 2007.
Norman will take up his role at
Scaw Metals on 1 September, subject to
remaining formalities on Anglo Platinum’s
