Moly-Cop Perú doubles capacity
In December, Scaw’s Moly-Cop Adesur operation in Arequipa, Perú, inaugurated its new roll former for the production of grinding media by “christening” it with a bottle of champagne. The honours were performed by Victor Carrión, president of Scaw’s Moly-Cop Grinding Systems, who was joined by other executives for the occasion.
Says Javier Castro, general manager, Moly-Cop Perú, “The new roll former, similar to the one in Lima and at other Moly-Cop operations in South America, replaced an old forging machine and a small roll former capable of producing only 1” to 2.5” grinding media. Additionally, a new Ajax induction heating system has increased heating capacity. The project has doubled Arequipa´s production capacity per year. This capacity fills demand for grinding media in the southern part of Perú and leaves capacity for additional future demand.”
Apart from the production benefits, the project has brought environmental benefits, such as the reduction in water consumption by almost 100% because the new induction heating machine uses a dry cooling system.
