STEEL WIRE ROPE

The Steel Wire Rope operation manufactures products for a wide variety of domestic and export markets.

Reputedly the largest integrated rope factory in the world, this factory holds the record for the heaviest rope ever made (130 tons). Ropes with a diameter of up to 154 mm and a mass of 130 tons can be made. Included in the product range are ropes for all mining applications, ropes for cranes, hoists, oil rig anchors, elevators, conveyors, aerial ropeways, fishing trawlers and the full range of general purpose (commodity) ropes.

Ongoing research and development enables the company to produce wire ropes which meet the exacting requirements of the global mining industry, offshore oil industry, power reticulation and all other industries it serves.

As part of the ongoing research and development, a modern plastication line has recently been installed at the Steel Wire Rope operation, where 56mm fully plastic-impregnated face shovel ropes are made.

Steel wire ropes purchased from this factory are manufactured and tested in accordance with appropriate National and International standards and other specified requirements.
