Scaw Wire Rod Products is a leading manufacturer and distributor of specialised ropes, wire/strand and chains for mining, construction, offshore and industrial applications and is comprised of three key divisions; Steel Wire Rope, Chain Products and Wire & Strand.
Steel Wire Rope
The Steel Wire Rope division manufacturers specialised steel wire ropes which are sold under the recognised Haggie brand. The Haggie brand has an established track record of engineering excellence and has supplied the South African mining industry since 1921. Steel Wire Ropes’ manufacturing facilities are located at the Jupiter plant in Germiston. Operational technical services are provided by an experienced team of mining rope engineers in South Africa, Canada and Australia.
Chain
Chain Products manufactures a wide range of round link welded chain products sold under the recognised McKinnon and Max-Alloy brands. Scaw is the leading supplier of chain products in South Africa, and exports to more than 40 countries around the world. Chain Products operates two manufacturing facilities in Vereeniging, 60km south of Johannesburg. Its chain factory is one of the largest and most modern of its kind in the world.
Wire & Strand
The Wire & Strand division converts steel wire rod into a range of wire products, including scraper rope, roof bolts, pre-stressed concrete wire and pre-stressed concrete strand. Manufacturing facilities are located in Germiston, outside of Johannesburg. Wire & Strand is able to manufacture almost the entire spectrum of standard international specifications, and has successfully supplied several high profile projects around the world including the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai, the Sydney Olympic Stadium and Nelson Mandela Bridge in Johannesburg.
