The Steel Wire Rope division is an internationally recognised manufacturer of mining, marine and offshore ropes. The Haggie® factory is reputed to be the world’s largest integrated Wire Mill and Ropery, where a wide range of steel wire ropes are manufactured.
The Haggie® Steel Wire Rope operation is accredited with a ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance System. The manufacturing and testing facilities are also Lloyds Register approved.
The factory still holds the record for the longest shaft sinking stage rope ever made of 130t. Recently stage ropes of 13km in length and a mass of 100t were supplied to a platinum mine. The longest shaft mining drum winding rope in the world of 3500m is produced for Moab Khotsong with the deepest single winding depth in the world of 3.2km and South Deep with a winding depth of 3.1km. The factory has the capability of producing ropes of 15km and 150t in mass. Rope diameters of up to 154mm are produced.
The Haggie® plant is capable of producing technically advanced wire ropes for many of the world’s leading mines, having served the mining industry of South Africa for over 90 years.
Included in the Haggie® product range are wire ropes for all mining applications, marine and offshore applications, conveyors, aerial ropeways as well as staywire and earthwire for electrical purposes.
