Scaw Metals Group's Grinding Media is a leading producer of high chrome and forged grinding balls supplied primarily to the African platinum, copper and gold mining industries. We are able to produce cast high chrome and forged grinding media in a range of sizes, meaning we are able to supply customers with varying ore and mill types. Operations are located at Scaw’s Union Junction site near Johannesburg.
High Chromium Grinding Media
Scaw Grinding Media is the largest producer of cast high chrome grinding media in the southern hemisphere, with demand coming primarily from the platinum, copper, cement and power generation industries. Scaw holds a technology license with Magotteaux, a leader in the development and design of high chrome grinding media. This partnership ensures that our customers receive world class technical support and access to cutting edge high chrome grinding media technology. The High Chrome Ball Plant operates three production lines, all situated at Scaw’s Union Junction site outside of Johannesburg.
Forged Steel Grinding Media
Scaw Grinding Media is the only significant producer of forged grinding media in Africa. Demand for forged grinding media comes predominantly from the gold and copper industries. The forged plant operates three production lines and sources input barstock directly from Scaw Rolled Products. Technical support is provided by Scaw’s team of specialist sales engineers.
Ghana Office
Scaw Ghana was registered early in 2011 as a regional sales office to service the West African Region. The offices are based in Tema and function as a local point of contact for all Scaw South Africa’s products that may be required by customers in the Region. Certain products are held in a bonded warehouse in Tema in order to provide an emergency stockholding facility for customers. Contact details are in the sidebar on the right.
