Scaw Metals Group regards transformation as fundamental to the sustainable long-term development and stability of the South African economy, and is the only level 5 B-BBEE compliant company in the steel industry.
The Group announced a major B-BBEE transaction in March 2007. The transaction transferred 26% of the company to previously disadvantaged individuals – 21% split between three established BEE consortia, with 5% held by an employees' trust. An additional 5% has also been earmarked for a B-BBEE women's group (yet to be selected).
