Ownership
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is the majority shareholder (74%) in the Scaw Metals Group. A Black Economic Empowerment consortium holds 21% and an employee share ownership plan trust holds 5%.
Scaw Metals Group also has a 31% shareholding GSI Lucchini (Italy), and a 50% shareholding in Consolidated Wire Industries (South Africa).
Consolidated Wire Industries (CWI) produces a full range of mild steel wire in both black and galvanised finish. These products undergo further ¬conversion into Diamond Mesh and Veldspan fencing, nails, staples, barbed wire and copper-coated electrode welding wire. Scaw Metals Group has a 50% joint share in this entity.
Other Investments
GSI Lucchini is based in Italy and produces wire rod and cast and forged grinding media. Scaw Metals Group has a 31% shareholding in this operation.
Proacer produces cast steel grinding media in Chile. Scaw Metals is a 50% joint venture partner in this entity.
