Scaw Metals Group announces new CEO, Group poised for growth

Local steel products manufacturer, Scaw Metals Group, has appointed Markus Hannemann as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective 1 August 2013. The appointment is a key lever in the Group’s growth aspirations, which is focused on delivering a smarter and more efficient steel beneficiation business, combined with an expansion of its facilities.Hannemann brings a wealth of experience to this role as a qualified Mechanical Engineer coupled with a Masters in Business Administration and has been with the company for over 25 years.

During this time he has been exposed to the vast majority of the Group's businesses, both locally and internationally. This exposure has provided him with a strong grounding and valuable experience to stabilise and place the business on a new growth trajectory.

Hannemann’s career highlights include playing an instrumental role in the development and growth of Scaw’s Grinding Media businesses. Furthermore, he has provided firm leadership in stabilising the Wire Rod Products businesses given the current tough economic climate. His most recent role was Head of Operations for the Group.
